You already own it. Here's how to get it back.

InstaCal for iPhone and iPad arrived on 28 August 2026, on the same App Store listing the Mac app has used since 2017. So if you have ever bought InstaCal, those apps are already paid for and waiting. Two minutes, no code, no second purchase.

The short version

It is one app, not four
InstaCal has always been a single App Store listing. The Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch apps all sit on it, so buying any one of them buys all of them.
Your purchase does not expire
It does not matter whether you bought InstaCal in 2017 or last week, or what it cost at the time. The apps added since are included.
You may still be shown a price
The App Store sometimes offers an owner the list price instead of the download cloud. It is a display quirk rather than a bill, and the next section is what to do about it.
Nothing to enter
There is no code, no receipt to find and no InstaCal account to sign in to. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with and that is the whole requirement.

$19.99 once on the App Store, down from $29.99. One purchase includes InstaCal for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch; it is not a subscription.
What you need
iPhone and iPad need iOS or iPadOS 18 or later. The Apple Watch app needs watchOS 11 or later. The Mac app needs macOS 14 or later.
The tidy way

Try this first. It never goes near a payment screen.

  1. Check which account owns itOn your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name at the top, then Media & Purchases. That is the account that holds your apps, and it is a separate setting from iCloud, so the two genuinely can differ. It needs to be the account you bought InstaCal with.
  2. Open your purchase historyOpen the App Store, tap your photo at the top right, then Purchased. Find InstaCal in the list.
  3. Tap the download cloudThat is it. No price, no confirmation, no code. The app downloads and signs in to your calendars the way the Mac app did.
  4. If InstaCal is not in the listCheck Hidden Purchases, under Settings, your name, Media & Purchases, View Account. An app hidden once stays out of the Purchased list forever. If it is not there either, carry on to the next section.

If the App Store shows you a price

This is the common one, and it worries people, so here is exactly what is happening. The App Store does not always work out that you already own InstaCal before it draws the page. When it does not, it shows you the $19.99 button where the download cloud should be, on a page for an app you bought years ago. Nothing is wrong with your purchase.

Tap it anyway. The store asks you to confirm, the same way it asks a new customer, and that confirmation screen quotes the price in your currency. Confirm it with Face ID, Touch ID or a double click. Instead of charging you, the App Store answers with a notice saying you already own InstaCal, and downloads it for free.

It is an alarming sequence for something that ends in no charge, and we would rather it did not work that way. It is Apple's flow and not ours to change, so all we can do is tell you what is at the end of it.

If you end up with a receipt rather than that notice, email support@higherbarapps.com and say what happened. We would want to know either way, and you should not be out of pocket for an app you already bought.

Questions we get asked about this

I bought InstaCal for Mac. Do I have to buy it again for my iPhone?
No. InstaCal is a single App Store purchase covering the Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch apps. Download it on your iPhone with the same Apple Account you bought it with and there is nothing more to pay.
Why is the App Store showing me a price for an app I already own?
Because it has not matched the purchase to your account before drawing the page, so it shows the list price where the download cloud belongs. It is a display problem rather than a charge. Tapping through it and confirming gives you a notice saying you already own InstaCal, followed by a free download.
Will I actually be charged if I confirm?
No. An existing owner gets an "you already own this app" notice instead of a purchase, and the download starts from there. If you ever end up with a receipt instead, email support@higherbarapps.com and we will put it right.
I bought InstaCal years ago. Is it still covered?
Yes. There is no cut-off and no upgrade fee. InstaCal has been on the App Store since 2017 under the same listing, so a purchase from any year covers everything on it today, including apps added long afterwards.
Do I need a promo code?
No. There is nothing to enter. If you already own InstaCal, the only thing standing between you and the app is the App Store matching your account.
InstaCal is not in my Purchased list. What now?
Check Hidden Purchases first, which is tucked away in your Apple Account settings — the exact taps are in step four above — because an app hidden once never reappears in Purchased. If it is not there either, go to the App Store listing directly and tap through the price as described above. Plenty of owners are never shown in the Purchased list at all and still get the free download that way.
The price on my Mac and my iPhone are different numbers. Why?
Because they are in different currencies. InstaCal is $19.99 in the US, and the App Store shows every other country its own equivalent, so a Canadian customer sees $24.99 CAD for the same app. Neither is an upgrade fee.
Does my old purchase cover the Apple Watch app too?
Yes. The Apple Watch app is part of the iPhone app rather than a separate purchase, so it arrives when you install InstaCal on your iPhone.
What does InstaCal require?
The Mac app requires macOS 14 or later. iPhone and iPad require iOS or iPadOS 18 or later, and the included Apple Watch app requires watchOS 11 or later.
How much does InstaCal cost?

Does InstaCal collect any data?
No. InstaCal contains no analytics and no tracking. Your Google and Microsoft tokens live in Apple's Keychain, and your events sync directly between your device and your calendar provider — there is no server of ours for your data to visit.
